             abstract = "This article reports the research developed to assess the trend of 
                         beach morphodynamic, between 1975 and 2005 in the littoral strip 
                         of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, in Pernambuco state, about 14.51 km in 
                         length, between the UTM coordinates 9089000mN, 283300mE and 
                         9077000mN, 289300mE, Zone 25, in reference system SAD 69. The 
                         evaluation of shoreline in temporal scale was based in the 
                         methodology investigation of cartography products of differents 
                         epochs and high spacial resolution. Thus we used black and white 
                         ortophotocharts of 1975 and 1989 years and multiespectral images 
                         of Quickbird satellite of 2005. Aiming to get more detailed 
                         results, the study area was divided into 6 beach sectors, from the 
                         vectorization of the shoreline in a commercial software (Arcview 
                         9.2), it was observed that the dynamic coastal did not raise with 
                         the same intensity in all sectors during the observation period 
                         (1975-1989 and 1989-2005), showing the sector 6 erosive trend in 
                         both moments, while in the sectors 1 and 2 prevailed advances in 
                         the shoreline. Sectors 3, 4 and 5 showed alternations (forward / 
                         backward) in the shoreline. The results are of great importance 
                         for the city, providing subsidies for an assessment of possible 
                         impacts generated by disturbing factors of the dynamic coastal 
                         sediment.",
